Press Release Japan extends a grant to a grass-root project in Mahweet Governorate
The Government of Japan decided to extend a grant to a grass-root project in Mahweet Governorate, under the Japanese scheme called “Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects.” This scheme aims at supporting small scale community-based projects in the area of basic human needs, such as primary health care, basic education and rural water supply in the developing countries. H.E. Mr. Masakazu Toshikage, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Yemen, signed today in his office in Sana’a, an agreement to this effect with Mr. Mohammed Ali Al-Shatbi, Chairman of the Care and Rehabilitation Society for the Hearing and Speaking Impaired in Al-Mahweet Governorate The grant will be used to fund the Project for Improving Activities of Care and Rehabilitation Society for the Hearing and Speaking Impaired in Al-Mahweet Governorate, through which the Society will purchase micro buses and sewing machines, to enable the people with hearing and speaking difficulties to commute to the Society and join its activities including vocational trainings. This grant aims at raising the level of the Society’s capacity to help the disabled in remote areas in the Governorate to have access to its services, and at enhancing inclusion of physically-impaired people in social activities. During the current Japanese fiscal year (April 1, 2008–March 30, 2009), the Government of Japan funded numerous grass-root projects in the Republic of Yemen totaling up to US$1,217,807 under the above-mentioned scheme.

قررت حكومة اليابان تقديم منحة مالية لمشروع أهلي في محافظة المحويت، في إطار البرنامج الياباني المسمى "المنح المقدمة لمشاريع الأمن البشري الأهلية". ويهدف هذا البرنامج إلى دعم المشاريع الأهلية صغيرة الحجم التي تلبي الاحتياجات البشرية الأساسية، مثل العناية الصحية الأولية، و التعليم الأساسي، و تموينات المياه في الأرياف في الدول النامية. وقع سعادة السيد/ ماساكازو توشيكاجي، سفير اليابان لدى الجمهورية اليمنية، صباح اليوم في مكتبه بصنعاء، اتفاقية بهذا الخصوص مع الأخ/محمد علي الشطبي، رئيس جمعية رعاية وتأهيل الصم والبكم في محافظة المحويت. ستستخدم هذه المنحة لمشروع تحسين نشاطات جمعية رعاية وتأهيل الصم والبكم في المحويت ، من خلال شراء حافلات نقل وآلات خياطة مختلفة، لتمكين الجمعية من نقل ذوي الإعاقة في السمع والنطق إلى الجمعية، والانضمام إلى نشاطات الجمعية المختلفة بما فيها التدريب المهني. تهدف هذه المنحة إلى رفع مستوى أداء الجمعية لتمكين مزيدا من المعاقين الذين يعيشون في مناطق نائية في المحويت تلقي خدمات الجمعية، كما أنها تهدف إلى تعزيز إدماج هؤلاء المعاقين في النشاطات الاجتماعية. يذكر أنه خلال السنة المالية اليابانية الحالية ( 1أبريل 2008م– 31 مارس 2009م)، مولت حكومة اليابان مشاريع عدة في الجمهورية اليمنية بلغ إجمالي قيمتها -/1,217,807,,دولارا أمريكيا في إطار البرنامج آنف الذكر.
